At the heart of every vehicle’s cooling system is an automobile water pump. The water pump is a device that transfers water from the radiator to the engine to keep your vehicle from overheating. A car water pump is typically located on the front or side under the hood.
If you have not replaced your water pump and are nearing 100,000 miles stop by your City Garage for full diagnostics. Often a water pump quits working due to the bearings failing or because the water pump begins to leak. Every automobile water pump has a weep hole. The weep hole is only a few millimeters in diameter and is usually located on the side of the water pump. Typically the weep hole is sealed by a gasket. However, over time the gasket will start to wear and erode allowing coolant to drip out of the weep hole. Once this begins the water pump is in desperate need of replacement by one of our ASE Certified Technicians. By not doing so you risk overheating your engine and possibly preventing your car from functioning properly.
