This month we continue to celebrate City Garage’s 25th Anniversary by placing the spotlight on Grand Prairie Store Manager, Marcus Sauseda. Marcus started with City Garage over ten years ago as a general service technician. He came to City Garage ready to make a change in his life and through hard work, determination and dedication became the Store Manager. He is a customer favorite due to his excellent communication skills with customers by insuring they understand the repair process including the cost and timing of the services and the benefits they’re receiving from the repairs and maintenance services performed. He truly represents the City Garage way of treating customers like family. We are grateful for the positive, can-do manner with which he leads, and proud to have him as part of our City Garage family.

Manage shop operations including work flow, scheduling, customer relations, ordering supplies, pay roll, inventory, and hiring/training.

Why did you decide to come to work for City Garage?
I was laid off in 2009 right after the economy crashed and I was applying for every job possible, but not many places were hiring especially if you had a less than desirable past. City Garage gave me a chance and started me out as a general service technician with no experience.
What do you wish you would’ve known when you first started working for City Garage?
I wish I knew a basic knowledge of engines and automotive systems prior to starting, which would have allowed me to be a more efficient employee.
If you could give any advice to our newest employees, what would it be?
Listen with open ears, come to work with a humble attitude, and try to learn as much as you can from as many people as possible.
What would you say has impacted you the most (positive or negative) since you started working for City Garage?
Working with an experienced master technician and attending the training provided to me by City Garage has allowed me to become a manager from an entry level position, (with no prior experience or knowledge), in only 4 years.
What’s the one thing you wouldn’t change about City Garage?
The procedure that is our brand and way of business – every car the same way every time.
What’s the biggest change in the company you’ve experienced since you started working for City Garage?
We are now closed on Sundays. This was a huge step for us as a company toward taking care of our customers as well as our employees.
How would you best describe your relationship with your coworkers at City Garage?
We are a loyal and reliable family that works as a team to accomplish our goals.
What do you think is unique about City Garage compared to other companies in the auto repair industry?
The way we view customer service as a priority, the warranty we offer, and the ways we give back to our customers with our rewards program.
Would you recommend City Garage employment to others?
What’s the part of your job you like the best?
When a customer comes in upset due to a break down or problem with their vehicle, but leaves with a smile on their face because we went above and beyond their expectations.
What’s the part of your job you like the least?
When a repair does not go as planned and becomes more challenging than your typical job – this can cause a major headache for the customer, my employees, as well as myself.
Do you have fun working for City Garage? When and Why
Yes. I have fun when the shop flow is smooth, we have more than enough work, and everyone is laughing/joking while staying productive.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Fantasy football, workout at home, and go fishing
Are you a native or long-time Texan? From the DFW area?
I’ve lived in the DFW area my entire life.
What is your favorite vehicle (one you’ve owned or dream car)?
1969 Chevrolet Camaro.

What is something about you that might surprise your co-workers?
I am a single dad raising my son as well as both my step daughters.
What’s a personal goal you’ve set for yourself this year?
I want to improve my self-motivation as well as my life management skills.
