As part of City Garage’s 25th Anniversary celebration, we continue our Employee Spotlight series this month by featuring Lead Technician, Wayne Pond. Wayne has worked at City Garage for 21 years, and every year he has been our Top Technician. He has received every Lead Technician honor we bestow. Wayne is a skilled technician; his work is thorough and he takes great pride in doing the job right the first time. He is a dedicated professional and he demands that the rest of the staff perform in a professional manner. As shown in some of his responses to our questions, since he has been with us for so long, he’s comfortable and forthright with his answers (including a nod to his rumored occasional grouchiness). Why did you come to work for City Garage?
I knew someone else who worked here that recommended me.
What’s the part of your job you like the best?
Fixing vehicles other technicians have trouble with.
What’s the part of your job you like the least?
Working on Saturdays.
Do you have fun working for City Garage? If so, when?
Although I enjoy working for City Garage, I don’t see my job as fun. It’s work.
What do you wish you would’ve known when you first started working for City Garage?
How difficult and complex automobiles would become, making it more and more difficult to repair them.

Contribute to your 401k as much as possible.
What would you say has impacted you the most since you started working for City Garage?
The relationships I have created with both employees and customers over the years.
What’s one thing you’d like to improve about City Garage?
The pay structure (cost of living).
What’s one thing you wouldn’t change about City Garage?
The buildings and equipment are very well maintained which makes my job much easier.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I spend time with my family and go fishing.
What’s a personal goal you’ve set for yourself this year?
Work less and make more money.
What’s the biggest change in the company you’ve experienced?
Going paperless (the introduction of ROTouch).
What three words best describe your relationship with your coworkers at City Garage?
Grouchy, mean, and loud.
What do you think is unique about City Garage compared to other companies in the industry?
Closeness of the employees to the management and corporate.
